Creating a children’s book is a deeply personal and exciting journey — but it also comes with challenges. Many authors whether just beginning or have a vision, are passionate storytellers, but they often feel overwhelmed trying to bring their ideas to life. Some aren’t sure where to begin, while others struggle to communicate their vision visually. Common concerns I hear include:

That’s where I step in — not just as an illustrator, but as a creative partner. I help simplify the process and bring clarity to your ideas. I take the time to understand your story, your message, and the emotional tone you want to convey. Then I translate that into engaging illustrations that are thoughtful, expressive, and aligned with your vision.
With experience, structure, and empathy, I support you through every stage — from storyboarding to final artwork — so you can move forward with confidence and pride in your project.
Phase 1
Getting to know you
In this first phase, we discuss your book and what makes you special. This helps me accurately bring your vision to life. We go over your ideas and concepts for your book. As well as discuss different specific characters and elements you want to feature. Lastly, we discuss timing and logistics to make sure you’re ready to launch ASAP!
Phase 2 & 3
Where the magic begins
In the next phase, l fully immerse myself in your story. I then begin drafting out the illustrations, making sure that every page looks exactly the way you want it. Once we finalize the drafts, I begin to work on bringing the illustrations to life by introducing vibrant colors, patterns, and elements to make your book visually appealing to your audience.
Phase 4
Launch!
In the last phase, we finalize your book illustrations to completion. You’ll have eye-catching illustrations to help you stand out on shelves and online! You will feel amazing as you enchant your readers with your new magical children's book, build your audience, and attract your desired readers.

Hi, my name is Brenda and i'm illustrator for Lapa Loma. I've always been passionate about art and creating stories through my illustrations. I decided at an early age I wanted to be an artist. I went to Parsons the New School for Design and been doing art professionally for more than a decade. In 2023, I decided to venture into opening my illustration business. I now aim to help children's book authors who want to create grand tales, enchanting stories and reach their ideal audience.
